Real Housewives of Sydney’s Nicole Gazal O’Neil’s sister Nora seeks damages for wedding reception

When The Real Housewives of Sydney star Nicole Gazal O’Neil’s sister spent $100,000 on her dream wedding in February, the event didn’t go to plan.

And on Saturday The Sydney Morning Herald reported that Sydney socialite Nora Miller (neé Gazal) is suing Rose Bay’s Catalina for $53,266.20 in damages due to what she claims was a disappointing wedding reception at the luxe eatery.

Nicole and Nora, who are from one of Sydney’s wealthiest families, are relatives of Roxy Jacenko’s ex Nabil Gazal.

Interestingly, Jacenko’s Sweaty Betty PR agency has handled publicity for Catalina in the past, but ceased doing publicity for the eatery in December 2017.

While Private Sydney claimed bride Nora’s former Miss Australia beauty queen sister Nicole was looking after her wedding with her events company, Nora has only expressed her displeasure at the Rose Bay restaurant. 

The wedding reception was held on February 24, which was a sweltering 33-degree day in Sydney.

Private Sydney revealed Nora and husband Michael are seeking $53,266.20 in loss and damages, with $23,711.20 pertaining to the reception’s food.

Representatives for Catalina provided a response to the publication, denying they had previously agreed to give the Gazal family ‘full, sole and unrestricted access to the premises’ to ‘bump in’ from 5pm for their 7pm reception. 

Catalina also denied it had ‘implied’ that it would ‘provide fully functioning air conditioning and electricity’ throughout the reception.

Catalina is a family-owned waterfront restaurant known for its upmarket seafood dishes and open veranda bar. 

The matter returns to court next month.
