Parliament bar 'shut indefinitely' after one arrested and another hospitalised in brawl

A popular Houses of Parliament bar has been closed ‘indefinitely’ after a brawl broke out that left a man in hospital.

The Sports and Social club, a popular haunt with members of Parliament staff and MPs researchers, was closed today after a fight broke out last night.

A 57 year old man, understood to be a member of Commons staff, was arrested for GBH and affray. A second man, 64, was taken to hospital.

The fight took place in the alleyway outside the bar, which is often used as a smoking area.

The bar is understood to have remained open after the incident, but was today closed until further notice.

The Mirror contacted the Metropolitan Police and House of Lords authorities for comment but they had not responded at the time of publication.
