The mum of a teenager who ‘rotted to death’ in a soiled nappy appeared to regularly tweet about rugby as her son slowly died.
The account thought to belong to Dawn Cranston retweeted Warrington Wolves player Josh Charnley celebrating the fact he was to become a dad.
It appears Cranston, jailed yesterday for the manslaughter of her son, even retweeted a post by Wigan Warriors player Sam Tomkins on June 30 2016 – the same day her emaciated son died.
The Twitter activity on the account then promptly stopped, reports Leeds Live .
Jordan, 18, died shortly after paramedics were called to his Farnley home.
He weighed just six stone and was severely malnourished and dehydrated when he was found lying in a soiled nappy, on a dirty inflatable mattress. He was covered in infected pressure sores so severe a bone had become exposed.
A post-mortem examination found the teenager had died as a result of bronchopneumonia, caused by malnutrition, immobility and infected pressure sores.
Jailing Jordan’s mother, grandmother Denise Cranston and sister Abigail Burling, Judge Mr Justice Spencer said the teenager, who had learning difficulties, must have suffered a lingering, excruciating death.
But during Jordan’s final days his mum’s Twitter account — @leedsrhinos123 — continued to retweet posts about her beloved Leeds Rhinos and Leeds United.
The believed account of Dawn Cranston, who was jailed for four years after being found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence, also retweeted posts about children’s TV and boy band Busted.
Jordan’s sister Abigail Burling, who was cleared of manslaughter but found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a vulnerable adult, also appears to be a prolific tweeter.
Wrestling fan Abigail appears to have tweeted during the days of her trial, which began on June 6, particularly about New Zealand-born wrestler Jay ‘Switchblade’ White.
The account retweeted a post about White, who performs in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, yesterday, the day she was jailed for 18 months.
And on July 8, the account – ‘Switchblade’s Water Bottle’ – tweeted Past 2 nights I’ve been having the same flash back and it’s effecting (sic) my anxiety disorder, I feel like deleting everything and leaving. I don’t feel like a fan anymore, I fell (sic) like I was disrespectful cause what happened.
Jordan’s grandmother Denise Cranston, 70, was sentenced to three years imprisonment after also being convicted of manslaughter at Leeds Crown Court, on Tuesday.
The remains of a baby, ‘almost certainly’ the son of Dawn Cranston, were found in a rucksack at the family home at Butterbowl Garth.
Dawn Cranston, 45, was also handed 12 months in prison — to run concurrently with her four-year jail term for manslaughter — for attempting to conceal the birth of a child.
She later admitted that she had given birth to the baby over 10 years earlier and decided to put him into a rucksack when it became clear he was dead.
