Lord O’Donnell: It would be unwise to trigger Article 50 without Commons vote

Lord O’Donnell says PM Theresa May is constitutionally entitled not to hold a parliamentary vote before triggering Article 50, but adds it would be “politically unwise” not to allow MPs a say in the negotiations. He said that Article 50 is designed to protect the countries remaining in the EU and make it difficult for others who want to leave, adding “I’d be very nervous about entering that process until we were absolutely clear what we wanted to get out of it.”
