Holidaymaker films baggage handler carelessly hurling suitcases

Shocking video shows a baggage handler hurling suitcases on to a trailer at Manchester Airport.

Many of the bags were thrown with such force they slid straight off the truck and ended up on the tarmac.  

The handler continued to throw the bags on to the trailer without a backwards glance, while his colleague looked on. 

The footage was taken by passenger Elizabeth Evans, who was on the Ryanair flight from Malaga which arrived at to Manchester Airport at 9.30am today.   

She is heard saying ‘That’s mine yeah.’ as her suitcase is thrown on to the truck and slides off the other side.

The man continues to throw suitcases into truck before someone comes over and he walks away. 

Elizabeth, 28, whose pink suitcase was among the mishandled luggage told MEN ‘I’m very angry and shocked. It was a new case. The case is dented and the protective layer has been torn off it.’

Her video was shared on Twitter and Facebook and many people replied expressing their concern about the way the baggage was thrown by the handler.

One Twitter user said ‘This is atrocious, he’s got no excuse for this, it’s not like the bags are coming down at full speed.’

Another said ‘Wow no respect for people’s belongings at all this is terrible. Could be people’s laptops or anything in there worth a lot of money.’

A spokesman for Swissport said ‘We are disappointed by the footage circulating on social media, and we apologise for the behaviour of this individual.

‘We can confirm we are investigating and will take all steps necessary to ensure this does not happen again.’

A Manchester Airport spokeswoman said ‘We are disappointed to see this unacceptable handling of bags by a Swissport employee and have raised this with them directly.’
