Four children found held inside windowless rooms barricaded shut with plywood and screws at Missouri home

A man and a woman have been arrested after four children were found barricaded inside a house in Missouri.

The youngsters were discovered inside rooms with no windows or lighting which had been forced shut with plywood and screws.

Police and social services were called to the address on Middle Brook Drive, in Farmington, on Tuesday following a hotline tip off.

The St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office said the homeower, Daryl J Head, 38, initially would not allow them in.

Once they finally gained access to the property, officers say they found Laura Cheatham, 38, removing screws and plywood that covered the entrance to several rooms.

Children then came out of the rooms, police said.

Three girls and one boy, all aged between five and 12 years old, were being held in specially constructed rooms that had no windows or lighting, police said.

Both Head and Cheatham were taken into custody.

They each face multiple counts for child endangerment and kidnapping. The children have been placed in the care of the Missouri Children’s Division.
