Ed Sheeran gave a bride and groom a big day to remember with an impromptu performance at their reception.
The A-Team singer was in town for wedding of Snow Patrol star Johnny McDaid’s younger sister, Brid.
The Derry bride and Edinburgh native Sandy Statham were married in a beautiful sun-kissed ceremony in the grounds of Beech Hill Hotel in Ardmore, Northern Ireland.
Her famous brother was looking on, as well as her sisters Aine, Sile, Maev, other brother Rory and their mother, Pauline.
Sheeran later wowed guests when he jumped on stage to perform a special version of the Snow Patrol classic Chasing Cars.
He and Johnny also performed Tenerife Sea, and a lively cover of Stevie Wonder’s Motown classic ‘Superstition’.
Beech Hill Country House Hotel Manager, Conor Donnelly, said: We enjoyed a wonderful day to celebrate the beautiful garden wedding of the happy couple, Brid and Sandy.
The sun was out in force and so were the stars who wowed the guests with their talent and crowned off what was a fantastic wedding celebration.
“The wedding guests were treated to very special performance which was fitting for such a great occasion.
Johnny McDaid, 40, was in town with his partner and former Friends star Courtney Cox, 52.
The couple were spotted being congratulated in a restaurant in Johnny’s home town of Derry on Saturday afternoon, sparking rumours that they had just tied the knot in Ireland.
One local sitting nearby them said that they couple looked very much in love.
They seemed very at ease with one another, she said.
Someone came over to speak to them and I heard her congratulate them and they were smiling and laughing.
“I presumed they must have got married already. They are a lovely couple.
Courteney and Johnny stayed at the Culmore family home while in Derry and on Saturday strolled along the picturesque Queen’s Quay where they stopped to take pictures with locals.
Far from the bright lights of celebrity Hollywood the down to earth couple then ventured into Sainsbury’s where they picked up some items for that evening’s dinner and got their photograph taken with local teenager, Maebh Fisher.
They were very pleasant, said Maebh’s Mum, Rosemary.
But it was just a quick stop for a picture as we didn’t want to disturb them or draw too much attention to them.
The couple became got engaged in 2013, but split in December 2015 only to reunite months later.
