A dad-of-three shed an amazing 11 stone in six months after his XXXXL jumper started to get too tight.
James Wright ballooned to a massive 28-and-a-half stone when he realised he could no longer keep telling himself the garment had shrunk in the wash.
The 34-year-old had become unable to run about with his little boy and too ashamed to take his daughter to school because of the playground ridicule she faced.
In March, he joined Slimming World and has since managed to lose 11 stone and half a pound in just 26 weeks.
He’s now aiming to shed a further two stone – a feat that will make him half the size he was.
Speaking to the North Wales Daily Post , James said: I used to eat four take-aways a week, drink four cans of Coke a day and half a loaf of bread, as well as snacking regularly on things like crisps.
My weight was ballooning, but when my 4XL jumper and 52 waist trousers started to feel tight, I told myself they must have shrunk in the wash.
It wasn’t until my wife told me they hadn’t and that I was getting bigger that it shocked me into action, as she’d never said anything like that to me before.
I realised then that I wanted to be able to run around and play with my little boy without getting tired.
I wanted to be able to take my daughter to school without feeling like people were laughing and staring at me because of my weight.
I wanted to be able to find it easy buying clothes that fit.
I just didn’t want to be this way any more.
James joined his local Slimming World group in Prestatyn and took to the food optimising plan straight away.
He swapped his snacks for salad and the pounds came pouring off.
Now weighing a much healthier 17 stone 7lbs, James said he feels like a new man.
My sister weighs 10st 12lbs and she told me to lift her up, said James, who works as a store manager in Llandudno.
That really put things into perspective for me, because it made me realise I had been carrying that much weight around all day every day. No wonder I had no energy.
As soon as I joined Slimming World, I wanted to get the weight off.
I knew I had a lot to lose and I was determined to do it.
I feel great and now I’m doing things that before would leave me feeling shattered. It’s like I’m a new man.
James, who now plays football three times a week and has taken up walking, said he owes his success to the support of his Slimming World class.
Sharon Duerden, his group leader, said: James joined us just 26 weeks ago.
He was a quiet guy who came into a class full of women and he was an instant hit.
He lost 18lb in his first week and has been an incredible member ever since.
He comes to class every week without fail and plays a massive part, offering tips and support to the other members and telling them all about the meals he’s made.
James has a real passion for Slimming World and it’s fabulous that he’s done so well. We are all extremely proud of him.
He’s really come out of himself and I’ve seen his confidence grow.
James is an inspiration and it’s amazing to be his consultant.
