Premier League star Pape Souare has been airlifted to hospital following a horror crash on the M4 motorway.

The 26-year-old is believed to have been involved in a two-vehicle crash but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The crash took place yesterday at around 12.10pm near Heathrow Airport and pictures of the Crystal Palace defender’s destroyed Mercedes G63 were captured at the scene.

The Crystal Palace defender is understood to have been cut out of the vehicle before being taken to an east London hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other car did not require hospital treatment.

Eye-witnesses at the scene said the Mercedes appeared to have crossed the central reservation before the cars crashed head-on.

Soaure has played three times in the Premier League this season and 56 times for the club since signing from French side Lille in 2015.

The Senegal international last featured in Palace’s 1-1 draw at home to Bournemouth on August 27.

He was not included in Palace’s 18-man squad for the trip to Middlesbrough in the Premier League this weekend.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 motorway.

“Officers were called shortly before 12:10hrs on Sunday, 11 September to reports of two cars in collision between junctions four and three.

“London Ambulance Service attended and the driver of one of the cars – a man aged in his 20s – was taken to an east London hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening.

“The driver of the other car involved did not require hospital treatment.”
