Bus driver viciously attacked in front of shocked passengers as he sits behind wheel

A bus driver was viciously attacked in front of shocked passengers as he sat behind the wheel of his vehicle.

Horrified witnesses screamed for help as the Dublin Bus driver was punched in the head by an unidentified man.

A passenger filmed the harrowing altercation on the 184 Bus near Greystones on Friday, May 4.

The clip shows a thug talking to the bus driver before launching his brutal attack on the innocent worker.

The footage begins with the man, who is wearing a black baseball cap backwards, pleading with the driver, who appears to be telling him ‘No’.

After the driver appears to say ‘Good luck pal, the thug launches a savage attack, punching the victim several times in the head before pulling him off the double decker.

Passengers on the bus are clearly shocked, and many can be heard screaming during the terrifying attack.

Towards the end, it seems that a number of brave passengers come to the driver’s aid, and they manage to pin down the thug, who by this stage has lost his hat.

A Dublin Bus spokesperson told Dublin Live This incident took place on Friday 4 May at approximately 15.00 on Route 184 travelling towards Newtownmountkennedy.

An Garda Siochana attended the scene and CCTV footage from the bus has been downloaded and made available to them.

Gardai confirmed they were looking into the shocking attack.

A spokesperson said Gardaí are investigating an assault on a bus driver at Lower Kindlestown Road, Greystones on the 4th of May 2018 at 3.20pm.
