British holidaymaker dies on Costa del Sol after collapsing while trying to climb onto giant inflatable


A British holidaymaker has died in Spain after collapsing while trying to climb onto a giant inflatable.

The water attraction was floating near the popular beach of El Bajondillo in the Costa del Sol tourist resort of Torremolinos.

Horrified onlookers saw the 77-year-old having difficulty breathing after struggling to get on to the inflatable .

The operator of the inflatable managed to give him first aid and get him back to shore.

But paramedics were unable to resuscitate him after arriving at the beach and the man was pronounced dead at the scene at around 11.45am yesterday.

The incident happened at 11.20am this morning and is the 15th death on Malaga’s beaches this summer.

Yesterday, a 52-year-old French woman died on Los Álamos beach, also in Torremolinos, after suffering an incident in the water.

And on Tuesday, a 70-year-old German tourist died in Torrox.

A post-mortem is being carried out to determine the Brisith man’s cause of death. It is believed he suffered a stroke.
