YouTube star Ebony Day has revealed she may not be able to have children in a heart-wrenching Twitter post after doctors misdiagnosed her painful periods .

The British beauty vlogger went to her GP after experiencing really bad cramps and was sent for an ultrasound over fears she could have had endometriosis.

The condition – which affects two million women in the UK – causes agonising periods and pain in the lower abdomen, pelvis or lower back.

It can also cause difficulty getting pregnant and bleeding between periods.

After completing the tests doctors told Ebony that she did not have the condition – but she knew something was wrong.

Ebony, 23 and from Devon, wrote on Twitter: I feel like you’re the only person who really knows your body and I just knew that my results couldn’t be right.

No nurse or doctor told me this so if I had listened I would have just gone home and put up with the pain for the rest of my life.

She then demanded that her doctors search harder and was sent for a laparoscopy operation just two weeks after getting engaged to boyfriend David Gibbs.

The procedure confirmed Ebony has endometriosis – a diagnosis that has left her devastated.

But she is staying positive and has vowed to raise awareness of the condition.

Ebony told her followers: If you feel something is wrong, please go and get checked out. You and only you know your body and it’s important to look after it.

I was so lucky that I caught this early meaning that my ovaries are working and the growths have been burnt away with no harm which means, thankful, that having babies is hopefully still a possibility.

If I left it any longer and listened to my ultrasound results it could have been so so so much worse.

Regardless of your age, if you think something’s up and your periods start to hurt more, please get checked out.

It affects so many people who don’t even realise they have it and I don’t feel like we’re told enough about it.

Ebony, who will need to have operations for the rest of her life, is spending the next month recovering but has promised to continuing making videos.

She added: I love you guys and I don’t want you to worry.

I do want you to look after yourselves though so if any of this applies to you, be an angel and go to the doctors please (and don’t trust that bloody ultra sound machine hahah).
