An island which rotates on its own has been discovered – and some conspiracy theorists believe that it could be a secret alien base here on earth.
Researchers discovered ‘The Eye’ off the coast of Argentina, and now they plan to launch an investigation into the odd phenomena.
The island measures 130 yards across and Argentine film director and producer Sergio Neuspillerm who discovered it says it’s too perfectly circular for anyone to believe it formed in nature.
Located in the Parana Delta between the cities of Campana and Zarate in Buenos Aires, Argentina, it can be seen on Google Maps using the coordinates: 34°15’07.8″S 58°49’47.4″W.
Neuspillerm has teamed up with Richard Petroni, a hydraulic and civil engineer from New York, to launch a Kickstarter, raising funds for more exploration into The Eye.
“We have discovered a mysterious island near the Parana river, which, intriguingly, moves and rotates on its own axis,” Petroni said in a press release.
“Besides, it features a neat circular structure bordered by another perfectly circular streak of water.’
“It’s something real and accounts for several supernatural stories bearing connections to UFOs and other paranormal aspects.”
Tech expert and telecommunications company founder Pablo Martinez is also working on the project, which began after a chance sighting as the film crew were investigating settings for paranormal shootings, including ghost and alien sightings , six months ago.
Spotting the island first online, the team headed to see it in real life.
“When locating this reference in the map we discovered something unexpected that left the film project in the background, we call it ‘The Eye’,” says Neuspillerm in the Kickstarter video, adding: “The Eye is a circle of land surrounded by a thin channel of water with a diameter of 130 yards.
“Both circles [the water and land] are so perfect that it is hard to believe that this is a natural formation.”
It was only on their second try, after eight hours of hiking, that the team finally traversed The Eye’s marshy surroundings.
Neuspillerm said that the place was amazing and extremely strange: “We discovered that the water is incredibly clear and cold, something totally unusual in the area.
“The bottom is hard in contrast to the swampy marshes surrounding it and the center part floats. We don’t know over what, but it floats.”
Neuspillerm explains that there are many questions, including what caused The Eye, how long has it been there, why does it move and many more.
The team is hoping to raise $50,000 – around £38,216 – via Kickstarter, where they have collected $4,832 – £3,693 – so far from 31 backers with 41 days left.
The fundraiser explains: “We aim to lead an expedition to this weird place, discover its secrets and produce a complete documentary to share with our sponsors.
“We plan to take to The Eye a multidisciplinary team of scientists and researchers specialised in the field of exact sciences as well as in the field of ufology and extrasensory perception.”
The area is no stranger to reports of alien and UFO sightings, and locals believe there is something supernatural about the mark.
UFO Sightings Daily creator Scott C Waring says: “A floating island has been found not far from Buenos Aires, Argentina on Google Map and it rotates in a circle.
“I believe this is how aliens try and hide this particular entrance to their base.
“The shape is large and circular, big enough to fit a 100 meter UFO through it. The water below this floating island needs to be dove into and explored.”
